Painting Birds in oil with Lynne Windsor
At Artisans, Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe, NM
April 25th and 2nd May, 2026
In this introductory course, you will learn how to paint your favorite bird in traditional oils. Begin by laying out your composition using one color to create your underpainting. Guidance will be given on mixing a harmonious palette, ideally suited to paint the subtle beautiful hues and tones of a bird’s feathers. I will provide photographs to work from or if you have a favorite bird that you wish to paint, please bring your own clear image. This workshop is open to beginners and advanced students.
You can choose to do one day or two. However to achieve the fine crafting of the feathers, taking both classes is advised.
25th April - Demo on how to lay out the composition. Color mixing instruction and adding color to your underpainting.
2nd May - adding details and clean color to your bird and glazing.
$100 (plus tax ) per day. Payment in full via Venmo. No refund after one week prior to class. Class size limited (10)
